In the Philippines, there is a notion that luxury items like
cars, condo units, boats, and private planes are purchases that are exclusive
only to the affluent and influential but those are narrow ways of looking at
potentially good investments. Catamarans in the Philippines aren’t new luxury
items but they are new concepts when it comes to being amenities and
accommodations. This can be your business’ claim to fame.
As an Amenity
The catamaran is a spacious and very safe type of water
craft making it perfect not only for big groups of friends but also for
families. If you have a hotel especially if it’s seaside, you can invest in a
catamaran and offer it as a separate amenity that your guests can avail. They
can stay there for a day tour, a night tour, for events, or use it for location
hopping.
Commonly, hotels and other seaside accommodations offer
water packages by third party from referrals to locals who offer boat rides and
other water entertainment. While you can hire local help for steering and
piloting your ship, having a catamaran gives you’re an ace up your sleeve given
the less diverse competition when it comes to Philippine tourism offerings.
Even high end hotels this side of boracay do not offer such a luxury.
As Accommodations
While you might not have a hotel business of your own, you
can still invest in a catamaran. If you already own a catamaran however, you
can customize it for transient or per night accommodations. Simply put, think
hotel but on water.
You can customize your vessel to cater to transient stay
because as it is it might be laid out to cater to your needs which might not
necessarily be intuitively important to staying guests. You will need more
sleeping quarters and your kitchen may need a smaller fridge but bigger and
more varied cooking equipment as opposed to large fridge that your guest might
not make the best of.
Bigger details could include having EZ docks for lounging
and offshore docking purposes and experience customization as well as having a
room or a section of the catamaran emptied or customizable in case your guests
would want to hold events.
These are just two general ideas on how to invest and make
more money out of a luxurious catamaran in the Philippines. Do you have other
ideas on how to make a catamaran a wise investment apart from the tourism and
hospitality industry?
